Germany's Oldest Trees, Part 1: A Hundred Years and much more

Our relationships with the tree are extensive and deeply rooted. Especially the very old and large specimens have always fascinated people of all ages and cultures. Humans have always planted and felled trees. But old trees are always special habitats. Many a tree feeds the forest animals in autumn, is a biotope for precious insect species such as stag beetles and Schillerfalter or serves as a breeding ground for owls and squirrels. The film invites you on a journey to the oldest and largest trees in Germany and shows the biodiversity that can exist on a single, large tree.
