1 o'clock, 10 degrees. Ruth Bach doesn't remember what she dreams at night. Wassim Razzouk is celebrating his birthday with his girlfriend in a bar in Ramallah. The city is half an hour's drive north of the Jerusalem city limits in the West Bank. Parts of the West Bank, including Ramallah, are under the control of the Palestinian Authority. Ramallah currently serves as the de facto capital for the Authority, and has become a popular nightlife spot for Palestinians living in Jerusalem. Wassim recalls his student days in the early/mid-1990s. At that time, there were no bars for men or women in Ramallah, only shawarma stalls. And coffee shops that only men were allowed to enter. Wassim likes the way Ramallah's nightlife has developed since then. In Jerusalem, Jewish pensioner Meir Brom tries to solve callers' problems at the telephone counselling service. In a West Jerusalem nightclub, DJ Omri H spins. Midwife Yana Glazer prepares a päridural anesthesia for a pregnant woman about to give birth. Aron and Aron, two paramedics doing volunteer duty that night, eat together. They talk about love. One of them is married, the other is still looking for the right woman for life. A Palestinian art student from an Israeli academy celebrates together with fellow students. Some are Jews, some are Arabs. The differences between them are sometimes difficult to discern.
